3.4 Applying Filters (Intent, Location, Financial, Housing, Contact, and More)

Filters are how you narrow your audience from the full database down to exactly the people you want to reach. Better Leads organizes filters into nine categories.

The nine filter categories:

Intent
Choose your audience method — Pre-made, Keyword, or Custom — and set the intent focus. This determines what your audience is actively researching. See Section 3.1 for detail on each method.

Business / Firmographic
For B2B audiences. Filter by job title, seniority, department, company name, domain, industry, SIC, NAICS, employee count, and estimated company revenue.

Financial
Filter by income range, net worth, credit-related attributes, mortgage amount, and occupation group or type.

Demographic
Filter by age, gender, education, and more.

Family & Household
Filter by marital status, children, single parent, and household makeup.

Housing
Filter by homeowner status, dwelling type, year built, purchase price, purchase year, and estimated home value.

Location
Filter by city, state (current residence or skip-trace), and zip code. For tighter results, include the state when entering a city (e.g. Charleston, SC).

Contact
Choose which contact types to include — verified personal emails, verified business emails, valid phones, and skip-traced wireless numbers.

Date
[Placeholder: confirm what the Date filter controls — e.g. when a record was last updated, a move date, or a purchase date]

Tips for better results:

  • The more specific your filters, the smaller but more targeted your audience will be.

  • Start broader and narrow down if your initial audience is too small.

  • Always include a Location filter to stay within your service area.

  • Combine Intent with the Contact filter to make sure your audience includes the contact type you need (email, phone, or mailing address).
