Run a 30-Minute Discovery Call With the 5-20-5 Structure
A timed discovery-call agenda: 5 minutes to frame the call, 20 minutes to diagnose the buyer situation, and 5 minutes to confirm the next action.

A Closing Script for Discovery Calls That Actually Converts
A simple closing script you can customize for any discovery call. It helps you stop ending strong conversations with weak lines like "what do you think?" and instead guide the prospect toward a clear yes, no, or next step.
Tools
The specific tools we use and recommend.

Snov.io
Snov.io bundles an email finder and verifier, cold email sequence sending with warmup, and a lightweight CRM for tracking deals, all in one product. LinkedIn automation is available as a separately priced add-on rather than included in the base plans. It's most often used by small sales teams, solo founders, and freelancers/agencies who want prospecting and outreach in a single low-cost subscription rather than paying separately for a data tool (like Lusha or Hunter) and a sending tool (like lemlist or Smartlead). The tradeoff, per independent reviews, is that the interface feels dated compared to newer entrants, and support/deliverability quality is described as inconsistent by some users, it competes primarily on price and bundling breadth rather than best-in-class execution in any single function.

Reply.io
Reply.io combines a B2B contact database (for finding prospects) with multichannel sequencing across email, LinkedIn, SMS, and calls, plus email warmup and deliverability tooling. Its newer "Jason" AI SDR product automates outreach more fully, aimed at teams that want largely hands-off prospecting. It's used by sales teams, agencies, and RevOps functions running structured outbound campaigns who want the contact-sourcing and outreach-sending steps in one product rather than stitching together a separate data provider and a separate sending tool. The tradeoff, noted across several reviews, is pricing complexity: Reply.io runs several overlapping pricing structures (contact-volume plans, per-seat multichannel plans, and separately priced AI SDR plans), which makes it harder to predict actual cost than a single flat per-seat model.

Zoho CRM
Zoho CRM is a full-featured CRM covering contact and deal management, email integration, workflow automation, and reporting, sold both standalone and as part of the broader Zoho One suite. Paid tiers add AI features, sandbox environments, and cross-team process automation. It's most commonly chosen by cost-sensitive small businesses and by companies already using other Zoho products who want everything under one vendor and one login. The free-for-3-users tier makes it a real option for a two- or three-person team that genuinely cannot pay for a CRM yet. The tradeoff repeatedly raised in independent reviews is usability: the interface is described as cluttered or dated compared to Pipedrive or HubSpot, and customer support response times are a recurring complaint. It's priced to win on cost, not on polish.

Close CRM
Close bundles calling, email, and SMS into the CRM record itself, so a rep can call a lead, log the outcome, and trigger a follow-up sequence without leaving the deal view. It includes built-in workflows/sequences, an AI assistant ("Chloe") for call summaries and task suggestions, and reporting focused on activity and pipeline velocity. It's most often adopted by small, founder-led or SMB sales teams doing their own outbound prospecting and follow-up, where reps are on the phone or in the inbox most of the day. It's a popular Pipedrive/HubSpot alternative for teams whose primary motion is outbound calling and email. Close deliberately stays narrow: there's no real marketing automation layer, and it isn't built for large enterprise sales orgs with complex approval chains or territory management.

AI Wrote Your Cold Email in Ten Seconds (It Also Said Nothing)
On Monday morning, a sales rep named Sam needs to reach the owner of a small heating and cooling company. Sam, the owner, and the company are all made up. So Sam asks AI for a friendly, personalized cold email to Dana, who runs Northline HVAC. Ten seconds later, he has this: Hi Dana, I came across Northline HVAC and was impressed by your great reviews and strong reputation. We help businesses like yours grow with innovative, AI-powered solutions. Would you be open to a quick call this week? Polite. Friendly. Dana’s name in the first line. And nothing else. Sam hits send. By Friday, Dana still hasn’t answered. Nobody did anything wrong. That’s what makes it so hard to fix. At BetterMarketers, we write for people who sell for a living, so this is the version of the problem we care about most: the message that sounds right and goes nowhere. AI can now produce that message by the thousands. See more
Nobody Wants Your Feature. They Want the Problem Gone.
A man walks into a hardware store and asks for a quarter-inch drill bit. The salesperson shows him four. Sizes, materials, prices, cases. Then a second salesperson asks, “What are you making?” “A shelf. My wife has been asking since March.” Now the second salesperson is selling something different: a shelf, up on the wall, before the weekend. (This is a well-known marketing story in different versions. We’re telling it our way.) He never wanted the bit. He wanted the shelf, and an end to the nagging. See more

The Dashboard Says You’re Winning. The Bank Account Disagrees.
On Friday afternoon, Carlos presents the monthly report. He’s a placeholder. Traffic is up 40%. Social followers are up 25%. Leads are up 75%. Slide after slide of green arrows. The CFO asks one question: “So why is revenue flat?” Carlos doesn’t have a slide for that. See more

Your Next Customer May Never Visit Your Website. An AI Will Have Already Picked Your Product (or Not).
Lena needs a gift for her father, who likes to cook but hates clutter. She’s a character we dreamed up. She doesn’t open Google. She asks an AI assistant: “Gift under $80 for a dad who cooks, doesn’t want gadgets.” It gives her three options with short reasons. She taps one, checks the price, and buys. The brand never got a pageview. It also never saw her scroll past its competitors. See more

Earn
Earn commission by promoting BetterMarketers.

How It Works
Every BetterMarketers plan includes the Affiliate Program. Share your member link, and when someone you personally refer buys, you earn a 20% commission on that purchase. That is Level 1. You do not need a pitch. Use the platform yourself and show people what you have built in your own account. In the Tag Team model, the platform introduces itself and the team helps close the conversation: your part is pointing people to what you already use. Reach 50 qualified referrals, each one through their trial period, and you permanently unlock the Elite Partner tier: a 40% commission on Level 5, whichever plan you are on. Commissions are paid through Better Promoters. They are separate from owning the platform, vary by activity, and are not guaranteed. See the Better Promoters compensation details for eligibility and current rates.

How to Get It Free
Your plan can pay for itself. Every plan starts with a 15-day Fast Start window: if your first qualifying referral comes in within those 15 days, it can reimburse up to 100% of what you paid for your plan. After that, every purchase by someone you personally refer earns you 20%, so the people you bring in keep covering your own marketing. That is the idea behind BetterMarketers: salespeople should not have to pay for marketing. Commissions are paid through Better Promoters. They vary by activity and are not guaranteed. See the Better Promoters compensation details for eligibility and current rates.
