5.4 Using the API
The Better Leads API lets you pull your audience data programmatically — directly into your own systems, applications, or automated workflows — without going through the dashboard.

How it works:
The API uses key-based authentication. You include your API key in each request, and the API returns the data from your saved segment in a paginated response. This is for developers or technical users who want to build custom integrations with Better Leads data.
Getting your API key:
Log in and go to Settings in your left navigation.

Copy your API key. Keep it secure — do not share it publicly or include it in any code that is visible to others.
Using the API:
Once you have your API key, pass it to your developer or use it in your own integration. Your developer will use it to authenticate requests and pull data from your saved segments.
The API returns paginated results — meaning large datasets are broken into pages that are retrieved one at a time. Your developer can move through pages until all records are retrieved.

What the API returns:
Each API response includes the contact fields present in your saved segment — names, emails, phones, location, company details, and any other attributes depending on the filters applied when building the audience. The response also includes pagination details so your developer knows how many pages of results are available.
Tips:
Share your API key only with developers you trust — it provides direct access to your account data.
If you believe your API key has been compromised, contact BetterMarketers support immediately to have it reset.
For non-technical users, the export and sync options in Sections 5.1–5.3 and Section 6 are easier alternatives that don't require API setup.
