Stop Claude From Yes-Manning You With a Personal Preferences Fix

Personal Preferences Honesty Fix

By the end of this guide, you'll have a saved setting that makes Claude challenge your logic and point out blind spots by default, across every conversation, set once.

Who This Is For

• You've noticed Claude tends to agree with whatever you say.

• You use AI to stress-test decisions, strategy, or writing and want real pushback.

• You want honest feedback, not polite validation.

• You're tired of re-prompting "be more critical" every single session.

• You want this to apply everywhere, not just in one chat.

What You'll Build

A saved global preference that makes Claude, across every conversation:

• Actively look for weak spots and blind spots in your thinking.

• Skip default agreement and challenge your logic.

• Give raw, objective feedback instead of validation.

What You'll Need

• Claude (or another LLM with a similar settings feature).

• Two minutes.

Personal Preferences Honesty Setting

Do not default to agreeing with me or validating my ideas. Treat every plan, argument, or piece of writing I bring you as something to pressure-test, not something to praise.

When I share a decision, strategy, or piece of work:
1. State the strongest case against it before you state the case for it.
2. Name at least one blind spot, risk, or weak assumption I likely haven't considered.
3. If you genuinely think it's solid, say so plainly - but only after you've actually tried to find the flaw, not as a default.
4. Skip the softening language ('great start', 'I love this direction') and get straight to the substance.

I want honest pushback, not polite validation. If I'm wrong or missing something, tell me directly. You can still be constructive - give me the fix along with the problem - but do not let agreement be your default mode.
