How to Qualify Leads Without Wasting Your Time

A 3-question filter that kills bad-fit calls before they start

The BANT-Lite Filter for Sales Calls

Three questions to ask before you book the call

Most sales calendars are full of meetings that were never going to close. The fix isn't working harder on every call — it's filtering harder before the call ever gets booked.

A good qualification filter answers three things before you invest 30 minutes: does this person have a real problem your product solves, can they actually pay for the solution, and are they the one who can say yes (or at least strongly influence the decision)? If any of those three is a clear no, the call is a favor, not a sales opportunity.

This isn't about being rude or gatekeeping aggressively — it's about asking two or three direct questions in an intake form or a quick pre-call message, and being honest with yourself about the answers. The goal is more selling time in front of people who can actually buy, not more meetings on the calendar.

Lead Qualification Question Builder

Act as my sales operations consultant. I sell [product/service] to [target customer]. I want to stop booking discovery calls with people who aren't a fit.

Write me 3 short qualification questions I can add to my booking page or intake form that check for: 1) a real, specific problem my product solves, 2) ability to pay in my price range ($X to $Y), and 3) decision-making authority (or strong influence over the decision).

For each question, also give me a one-line rule for what a disqualifying answer looks like, so I know when to send a resource instead of booking the call. Keep the questions short, non-intrusive, and natural-sounding — not like an interrogation.
