Magnific (the entity formerly operating as Freepik's AI tools) combines generative AI — image generation, image upscaling/enhancement (Magnific's original specialty before the acquisition), background removal, video and audio generation, and design templates — with Freepik's long-standing library of stock photos, vectors, and templates. It's positioned as a single subscription covering both licensed stock content and AI generation rather than picking one or the other.

The practical use case is a designer or content team that wants stock assets and AI generation/upscaling under one account and one license, useful for teams already using Freepik for stock who want to add AI capability without a second vendor relationship.

It competes with Adobe Firefly and Ideogram on generation, and with Envato/Shutterstock on the stock side, occupying a hybrid position neither pure competitor fully covers. The tradeoff, and the important flag: Freepik fully rebranded to Magnific in 2026 (described by the company as a bootstrapped, ~$230M ARR business), so any older material referencing "Freepik" as a brand name is now describing a renamed product — this is a fresh pivot, not a stable long-standing brand name.
