What it does

Recharge is a subscription and recurring-billing platform built on top of Shopify (and increasingly other platforms) that lets merchants sell subscribe-and-save products, curated subscription boxes, and recurring bundles. It handles the subscriber-facing billing portal, failed-payment retry logic, shipment consolidation, and one-click upsells at the point of subscription management, and reports powering the large majority of subscription orders processed through Shopify stores. It's used mostly by venture-backed and high-growth DTC brands in coffee, supplements, pet care, and beauty that need enterprise-grade retention tooling. In April 2026, Recharge acquired competitor Skio for a reported $105 million, consolidating a large share of the Shopify subscription-app market under one company.

Who this helps

  • DTC brands with subscribe-and-save or replenishment products needing a dedicated subscriber portal

  • Growing subscription brands that need dunning/retry logic to reduce failed-payment churn

  • Merchants running curated subscription boxes who need bundling and shipment-consolidation logic

  • Operations teams that need subscriber analytics (LTV, churn, MRR) beyond what Shopify natively reports
