Build a Working App, Dashboard, or Game Inside Claude With Artifacts

Artifact Command

By the end of this guide, you'll be able to ask Claude to build a working calculator, dashboard, tracker, or simple app as an interactive Artifact you can use right in the chat, without writing a line of code.

Who This Is For

• You want a custom tool such as a calculator, tracker, or dashboard but don't want to hire a developer.

• You've described a tool you wish existed and didn't know Claude could just build it.

• You want to prototype an idea fast and actually click around in it, not just read about it.

• You're a marketer or salesperson who needs a quick interactive asset for a client or a page.

• You want to see what "no-code" really means with the simplest possible starting point.

A quick note before we start:

You do not type a secret word like "ARTIFACTS" to make this work. There is no hidden command. You simply ask Claude, in plain English, to build something interactive, and it creates an Artifact: a live panel beside the chat where the tool actually runs. That's the whole trick. It is real, and it is this easy.

What You'll Build

A working, interactive Artifact created from a plain-English request. Examples you can build today:

• A calculator such as pricing, ROI, mortgage, or tip splitter.

• A dashboard or tracker for habits, leads, or project status.

• A simple app or game such as a quiz, flashcards, or a small browser game.

• An interactive mockup of a page element.

What You'll Need

• Claude (claude.ai or the desktop app).

• A clear description of the tool you want.

• Nothing else. No code, no accounts, and no plugins.

Artifact Build Prompt

I want a working tool I can use right here in the chat — no coding, no separate app — built as an interactive Artifact. Help me build it step by step:

1. I'll describe the tool in plain language: what it calculates, tracks, or does, and what inputs and outputs I need. Ask me clarifying questions if anything is ambiguous before you build.

2. Build it as a fully interactive Artifact I can use immediately — real inputs I can type into, buttons that work, and results that update live, not a static mockup.

3. Walk me through how to use it once it's built, and test 1-2 sample scenarios with me to confirm it's calculating or behaving correctly.

4. Take my feedback in plain language (e.g., "make this field required," "add a running total," "change the color") and update the Artifact in place without breaking what already works.

5. Once I'm happy with it, tell me how to keep using it later (saving it, referencing it again, or exporting the code if I want to host it elsewhere).

The tool I want to build: [describe what it does — e.g., a mortgage calculator, a habit tracker, a simple quiz game — and the specific inputs/outputs you need].
