The most feature-generous free WordPress SEO plugin on the market, and the one most likely to make Yoast's paid tier feel overpriced by comparison, though its interface can overwhelm non-technical site owners at first setup.Reviewed
What it does
Rank Math is a WordPress plugin for on-page and technical SEO that handles meta tag optimization, XML sitemaps, schema markup, redirect management, and 404 monitoring directly inside the WordPress dashboard. The free version already includes features that competitors gate behind a paywall, such as unlimited focus keywords per post and Google Search Console data pulled directly into WordPress. Paid tiers add built-in rank tracking (up to 1,000 keywords on the Starter plan), Content AI credits, and an AI-powered search-traffic tracker that shows how content is being cited in AI answers like ChatGPT and Gemini. It's used by bloggers, agencies, and WordPress-based businesses who want deep on-page SEO control without paying for a separate content-optimization tool. Its main competitors are Yoast SEO and All in One SEO, both also newly added to this doc.
Who this helps
WordPress site owners who want advanced schema markup and redirect management without a paid plugin.
Agencies managing many client WordPress sites who need Search Console data visible inside the CMS itself.
Content teams who want built-in rank tracking and AI-search visibility tracking bundled with their SEO plugin instead of a separate subscription.
Budget-conscious bloggers who outgrow Yoast's free tier but don't want to pay for Yoast Premium.
