The category leader in automated data pipelines for good reason — near-zero-maintenance connectors and native dbt integration — but the usage-based pricing, billed on rows changed rather than rows stored, needs a clear explanation before a client signs up.

What it does

Fivetran automatically extracts data from 600+ sources — databases, SaaS apps, files — and loads it into a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks, with automated schema migration and log-based change data capture, so engineering teams don't hand-build and maintain custom pipelines. Pricing is based on Monthly Active Rows (MAR), the unique rows inserted, updated, or deleted each month, rather than a flat per-connector fee. As of early 2026 it also offers "Activations," a no-code reverse ETL product, positioning Fivetran to cover both directions of data movement — into the warehouse and back out to business tools — from one platform.

Who this helps

  • Data teams tired of maintaining custom scripts to pull data from a dozen SaaS tools into a warehouse

  • Growing companies centralizing marketing, sales, and product data into Snowflake or BigQuery for BI reporting

  • Agencies building client data warehouses who need reliable, pre-built connectors instead of custom ETL

  • Analytics teams already using dbt who want a tightly integrated transformation handoff
